The Vision

This is our vision. This is what we see…

We see Oswego Family Church as being a group of believers, ever growing in number, who come together for God’s divine purpose of being transformed, by the Word of God and the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, ever more into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ… from faith to faith and from glory to glory. We see these believers going into Oswego, Chicagoland, Illinois and the world revealing the love of God, proclaiming the message of Christ and doing the works of Jesus.

Our Purpose

Our vision describes where we are going and our purpose explains why we are going there. In other words, our purpose is why we do what we do. The purpose of Oswego Family Church is clearly explained in the following verses.

Colossians 1:28-29

Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”

We are here to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, warning every person that is not yet saved and teaching every person that is, in order to present every person perfect and fully mature in Christ Jesus. This is why we work… to fulfill the commission that Jesus gave us.

Mark 16:15

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go thereforeand make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

The mission that Jesus has given to us is twofold. First, we are to go into all the world, and we are to preach the gospel, and those who believe the message will be saved. Second, we are to make disciples of Jesus Christ by teaching them to do everything that He taught. A disciple is a believer who follows Jesus and copies Him, mainly by continuing in His Word and by being a doer of it. This is our vision and purpose as a local church.

Catch the Vision

We believe that now, more than ever before, we must see beyond where we presently are and look to the vision that God has given us for Oswego Family Church. Now is not the time to stand still or draw back. Now is the time to advance in order to impact this area with the life changing power of God’s Word! The vision God has given us for this ministry is big, and because it’s big, it is going to require us to work together in order to carry it out.
