| The teachings found in the Bible are the basis for all that we do and teach as a local church.
God’s Word is our foundation, the source of our faith, and it is what drives us.

 | We are a ministry that is focused on Jesus Christ and the power of His finished work of redemption that mightily works in the lives of those who follow Him.

 | Like Jesus and the Apostle Paul, we emphasize the importance and power of the Spirit filled life and the many benefits that accompany it.

HERE FOR YOU | It is our sincere desire that you and your family realize your full potential in Christ and flourish in life! Our church services are designed to strengthen and encourage you as you follow God’s plan for your life.

We believe that Jesus is the source of real life and genuine hope and we’re here as a church to promote Him, His message and His agenda of changing lives and strengthening families.

In Mark 7:13, Jesus said that men, through their traditions, make the Word of God of no effect. On the other hand, He explained in John 8:31-32 that if a person would continue in His Word, they would be His disciples indeed and they would know the truth, and the truth would make them free! As a non-denominational church, we believe in the importance of teaching what is found in the Bible over the traditions, views and opinions of any organization or group. In other words, we believe that the Word of God should ultimately the guide for one’s faith and doctrine and the guide for a local church.

“Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” – Romans 12:2 NLT

“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” – Philemon 1:6 KJV

The message of Jesus that we are here to proclaim is powerful and life changing. It empowers us from within to rise to new levels and to reach our highest potential! It brings light into the darkest moments of life and it produces real hope that overcomes despair.

Our heart, as a local church, is for individuals and families to discover the greatness of what God has done for them in Christ and the impact that it makes on our everyday life. We believe that as Christians see in the Bible the truth of what God has done on the inside of them, they’re empowered to experience supernatural change that works from the inside out.

“And in your Seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed and benefited.” – Acts 3:25 AMP

As we apply God’s wisdom to our lives and as we act on His promises in faith, we open up our lives and our homes to the powerful change that only God can bring! God spoke to Abraham and revealed that His will for all of the families of the earth is that they would be “blessed and benefited”. Now, through Jesus, a new blessed way of living is available that extends beyond Sunday morning to our marriages, our children, our health and our finances. At Oswego Family Church, we are committed to helping families thrive and be all that God has said they can be!

We see in God’s Word that a local church is to be a place of empowerment. A place where those who believe in Jesus come together, regardless of their differences, to worship the God who loves them, the same one who gave His own life for them so they could know Him. It’s a place where individuals and families are transformed by the truth of God’s Word, His Spirit and His grace and it’s also a place where they unite to do a work together that powerfully impacts their communities and the world. These believers realize that they aren’t just a part of a local organization; they understand that they are a part of a global movement that is powerfully transforming lives. They come together with purpose. They come together to be empowered and equipped to live life and to make a difference in their world. The local church is truly a supernatural people in a supernatural place with a supernatural purpose. They are a force for good. They are the salt of the earth. They are the light that has been sent with a message to change the world. This is who we are. This is why we’re here. This is our church. – Jordan D. Gash, Pastor of OFC

Jordan and Melissa Gash

Pastors of Oswego Family Church

Jordan and Melissa live in Yorkville, IL with their four children, Hannah, Hallie, Isaac and Haven. As pastors, they’re passionate about people discovering the reality of God’s love and grace and the good plan that He has for their lives.

Jordan and Melissa both grew up in Canton, Ohio where they met during high school. It wasn’t long before they became best friends and high-school sweethearts. They each believed in Jesus at an early age, but it wasn’t until they were in college that they made decisions to truly follow Christ and to seek His plan for their lives.  Jordan spent 4 years in college studying as a biology major with the intention of pursuing a career in the medical field. However, his pursuits changed during his senior year after as he began to recognize the calling of God upon his life to the ministry. During that time, Melissa also recognized the calling of God upon her life for ministry and they set out to pursue the plan of God for their lives together.

Our Commitment to You

We want to share with everyone who becomes a part of Oswego Family Church what we are committed to as your Pastors.  Listed below are 2 guiding principles that we have taken very seriously over the years. They are a major part of who we are and of who we will continue to be as ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;”

– 2 Timothy 4:1-3

First, we are committed to preaching God’s Word

We are committed to preaching and teaching the Word of God uncompromisingly, not our own ideas or opinions.  The traditions and opinions of men are not what set people free.  In fact, Jesus said that the traditions of men can actually make God’s Word of no effect.  He taught us that the truth, revealed by the Word of God, contains power to set men forever free!  It’s for this reason that we base every teaching upon the Scriptures and not on the views and opinions of others.  We feel that it is also important to note that we only follow others (even those we usually agree with) as they follow Christ and His teachings.  We prayerfully prepare for every service, seeking God’s direction and His will for the people we speak to.  Our sincere desire is to have “a word in due season” that would minister grace and life to those who hear it.  The number one job of a pastor, as seen throughout the Bible, is to “feed the flock of God” the Word of God.  This is our highest priority as pastors.

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers

in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

– 1 Timothy 4:12

Second, we are committed to living a life of integrity

We are committed to living a life of integrity publicly and privately.  We do not take lightly the calling of God to be ministers and like Daniel in the Old Testament, we have purposed in our hearts to live a life that honors God.  Prior to our ever being involved in the ministry, we made decisions together to live a pure life, separated unto God, to His calling and to His will.  We are committed, now more than ever, to living a life of integrity and purity.  We have resolved to be examples of Christ not only as ministers, but also as individuals, in our marriage and as parents. These two guiding principles greatly influence us, and all we do as a local church

In the summer of 2004, Jordan and Melissa moved to Oswego, Illinois with a dream in their hearts to start a new church that would one day become a place where people would hear and experience the life-changing message of Jesus. They didn’t know anyone in the area at the time, but after much prayer, they were convinced that pioneering a new church was what they were supposed to do.

In November of that year, they started meeting every Sunday morning, holding services with a small group in a rented school facility. In the fall of 2006, the church began holding services at their current location on route 34 in Oswego. Since that time, they have seen God’s faithfulness and grace and have continued moving forward, step by step, into the plan of God as a local church.

In the fall of 2012, the church more than doubled in weekly attendance and the lower level of their current building was converted into additional children’s church space. Then, in the fall of 2013, the church acquired the building next to them, transforming it into additional classrooms and ministry space. Following the renovation, in the spring of 2014 the church began holding multiple Sunday morning services in order to accommodate their continued growth. In August of 2017, the church purchased 34 acres of land in Yorkville, IL and introduced the Beyond Boundaries Project, a land purchase and building project. For more information, you can visit www.beyondboundariesproject.com.

The dream that God put in Jordan and Melissa’s hearts just over thirteen years ago has been coming to pass by the grace of God. Since that time, their vision has grown bigger and their desire to spread the good news of God’s love and grace has only grown stronger. They’re grateful to God for all of the good things that have taken place since the church began and they truly believe that what they have seen so far is only the beginning of what God has in store!

“And now I entrust you to God and the message of His grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself.” – Acts 20:32 (NLT)

The grace of God is what God has done for us simply because He loves us. It can be defined as His love in demonstration, freely released towards us, not because we have earned it or because we are deserving of it, but because it is His will and good pleasure as a loving Father to freely bless His children. The “gospel” is the good news of God’s grace and all that it has done.

“None of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” – Acts 20:24 (KJV)

The message of God’s grace includes everything that Jesus accomplished for humanity through His death, burial, resurrection and ascension so that we could have a new life. We did not deserve what Jesus did for us. All of it was an act of grace. As Christians hear this message of grace, they are empowered to experience all of the benefits that God’s grace has provided. The grace of God is more than a theological concept. It is real power from Heaven that changes lives and enables people to live victoriously!

We’re here to proclaim the Word of God that inspires faith in the hearts of those who hear it. As believers respond in faith to God’s Word, they access His grace and experience real victory in life.

“If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine.” – 1 Timothy 4:6 (NKJV)

“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:8, 17 (KJV)

Faith in God is much more than a topic or an abstract theory. It is to be our way of life! In Mark 11:22, the Lord Jesus instructed us to “have faith in God” and in 2 Corinthians 5:7, Christians are instructed by the Apostle Paul to “walk by faith and not by sight”. The word “walk” in that verse refers to a person’s entire way of life. In other words, Christians are to live a lifestyle of faith. This concept is found throughout the Word of God. In fact, four places in the Scriptures teach us that the just are to live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, and Hebrews 10:38).

What is faith? It is trusting in God and in the words that He has spoken over what we see or feel. A person of faith simply acts like the Bible is true. Why does living by faith make such a difference? Our actions of faith in God are the way we enter into the experience of all that His grace has provided.

“Therefore, inheriting the promise is the outcome of faith and depends entirely on faith, in order that it might be given as an act of grace (unmerited favor).” – Romans 4:16a (AMP)

“Through Him also we have access by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand.” – Romans 5:2a (AMP)

Jesus is our Victor and His work is finished. Now, because of what He has accomplished, we are called to live in victory! We see in God’s Word that Jesus came to bring us more than religion or tradition. He came to bring us a new life of victorious living as children of the Most High God.

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” – 1 John 5:4 (NIV)

“Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him who loved us.” – Romans 8:37 (AMP)

The victorious life begins when a person sees all that Jesus has done for them and within them by His grace. Acting in faith on what God says is ours now because of His grace, produces tangible victory in every realm of life!

“But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph as trophies of Christ’s victory.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14a (AMP)

“Thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:57 (AMP)

“Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly. The strong right arm of the LORD has done glorious things!” – Psalm 118:15 (NLT)

Now that we are in Christ Jesus, we are VICTORS, not VICTIMS. This is our new perspective found in God’s Word. We are not supposed to live our Christian lives trying to obtain victory because our wonderful Lord and Savior has already obtained it for us. We are to live our lives from the position of victory that we now have in Christ. Jesus is now our Lord and His world overcoming victory is within us. He has destined us to experience grace, faith and victory!
